Dry cleaning shop destroyed in fire

MANGALORE: A dry cleaning shop at Marnamikatte here and electronic items at a residential apartment in Falnir was destroyed in a fire resulting from short circuit in the early hours of Tuesday. The loss from both these incidents has been put at Rs. 1 lakh, according to personnel of Pandeshwar-based Fire and Emergency Services.

The fire in both cases apparently started as a result of early morning rains accompanied by thunder and lightning. Fire tenders were rushed from Pandeshwar station to Falnir. Even as the fire tenders were returning to Pandeshwar after putting out the fire there, the personnel received information about the fire at the shop. Persons sleeping in a hotel adjacent to the shop informed them about the fire.

Saris and other dresses given for dry cleaning, ironing and darning were destroyed.
