Team Pascal on top

BANGALORE: The International School of Information and Management, Mysore, conducted the second edition of Info Quiz 2007 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

The preliminary round of this quiz was held online a few months ago.

The 743 participants from throughout India were finally whittled down to six, and were put into three teams of two each.

The teams were named after pioneers Turing, Pascal and Babbage. The quiz covered areas such as computer programming and networking and was part of an E-Access Seminar.

Hosted by Narayana Prasad S., Senior Architect, Unisys Global Services (India), and Madanmohan Rao, Editor, The Knowledge Management Chronicles, the quiz saw Team Babbage comprising Akshay Lavangu of SP Jain Institute, Bombay, and Priyanka Khurana of Sapthagiri College, Bangalore, take the lead in the first round.

Team Pascal comprising Ashish Gupta, who hails from SP. Jain Institute and Ravi Shekar of Mahajana Law College, Mysore, staged a strong comeback in the next two rounds and emerged winners with an absolute cracker of a final which was a rapid fire round.

Mr. Shekar, who got through to the finals because one of the top six dropped out, said: "I consider myself lucky and I thank the organisers for this opportunity."

The winners left with a prize money of Rs. 20,000 while the runners-up had to be content with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000
