ALAPPUZHA: Communist Marxist Party leader M.V. Raghavan has alleged that the 50th anniversary celebrations of the first elected Communist Government by the V.S. Achuthanandan-led Government in the State is a ploy of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to divert the attention of the public from the LDF's `internal bickering' and also from the Nandigram incident. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Raghavan said the 1957 EMS Government consisted of several parties and not just the Communist Party of India or the Communist Party of India(Marxist). "As such, they do not have any right to celebrate the occasion. The uproar they are creating is just to divert the attention of the public from the bickering between the V.S. and the Pinarayi factions and also the shameful episodes in Nandigram," he said.
`No comparison'
"There is no comparison at all between the VS Government and the EMS Government. What has V.S. Achuthanandan's Government achieved in one year? He himself is fighting for survival. And after declaring that they would fight against the bourgeoisie class and MNCs to uphold the rights of the farmer, they have done nothing for the farmers here," he said. He alleged that none of the projects of the present Government were their own initiations, but `mere continuations' of what the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) Government had started.
