Who cares for the dialogues

BANGALORE: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists have been in the news for the past few months because of their protests against cinemas in the city, particularly those screening Tamil films.

Recently, the vedike activists thronged a cinema in the crowded Majestic area that was screening the Shakeela-starrer "Sixteen to Sixty." Although it is a Kannada movie, the activists wanted the cinema owner to withdraw it.

They contended that it was basically a Malayalam film dubbed in Kannada.

As tension started building up at the cinema, police officials arrived there and tried to pacify the protesters who kept insisting that it was a Malayalam movie and only the lip movements were altered.

A witty police officer from Chickpet sub-division asked the protesters: "Tell me, who would observe the lip movements or listen to dialogues while watching a Shakeela film?" The stumped activists dispersed in no time.
