Bangalore: The people of Magadi taluk have organised a Guruvandana programme on May 9 in Magadi town in honour of Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Math, who celebrated his 100th birthday recently. As part of the programme, a statue of Basaveshwara will be unveiled. Magadi MLA H.C. Balakrishna, who is the chief convener of the celebrations, told presspersons here on Saturday that several developmental schemes would be launched to mark the occasion. The head of Adichunchanagiri Math, Balagangadharanatha Swamiji, and the head of Suttur Math, Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will participate in the programmes. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the Ambedkar Bhavan in Magadi.
