Karan and Meenakshi in "Karuppasamy Kuthagaitharar"
After the hit "Kokki" which was a launch pad for Karan, fans and distributors are now eagerly awaiting the release of his next film "Karuppasamy Kuthgaitharar". The actor has high expectations about the central character of Karuppasamy who lives a double life a contractor by day managing a two-wheeler stand near the Madurai Arappalayam bus stand and a `koothu' performer by night. The apparently routine life of the character undergoes many twists and turns. "We decided to go with the character's name for the film's title. Now many in the industry come up and tell us that the choice was apt," said Karan. The shooting was completed in 54 days and the post-production work took even less. Sakthi Kumar, who did the police officer's role in "Kokki," has played a different type of role as Nallathambi in this film. A new find is heroine Meenakshi who plays Rasathi, a first-year MBBS student. In the words of director Moorthy who handles the screenplay and dialogue, this is a love story without any love scenes. Vadivelu's comedy capers and the songs composed by Dhina are expected to be the other strengths of the film. The film is produced by Sethu, Vinith Gogia, and R. Balasubramanian and co-produced by Dheeraj Kher. S. R. Ashok Kumar
