New Delhi: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, after consultations with the Chief Justice of India, has transferred Justice Jagdish Bhalla of the Allahabad High Court as judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court. He has been asked to assume charge on or before May 25. Justice Bhalla was in the thick of a controversy after his name was recommended for being made the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. As the President raised objections to his elevation, the Supreme Court collegium reconsidered its decision. As the present Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court is under orders of transfer to the Kerala High Court, Justice Bhalla will be the acting Chief Justice.
