LUCKNOW: The verdict in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections presented several interesting outcomes, chiefly in terms of heavyweights from the SP, the BJP and the Congress being beaten by BSP candidates. Among the prominent losers were D.P. Yadav, dacoit Dadua's brother Bal Kumar and former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh's son Rajvir Singh. About half a dozen of the outgoing Ministers were defeated, mostly by BSP candidates. Among them were Ashok Bajpai, Balram Yadav, Ujjwal Raman Singh, Hari Shankar Tiwari, Kiran Pal Singh, Shyam Narain Tiwari, Raja Ram Pandey and Virendra Singh. Former Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan won from Rampur and former Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal from Hardoi. SP rebel MP and president of the Samajwadi Kranti Dal, Beni Prasad Verma, lost his deposit in Ayodhya. His son Rakesh Verma lost from both Masauli and Daryabad. Reshma Arif of the SKD lost in Bahraich.
