Rs. 2-lakh worth chains snatched in two incidents

One woman was robbed while she was in the car

BANGALORE: Two men snatched two gold chains together worth Rs. 1.5 lakh from a woman who was in a car that had stopped at a traffic signal on Mysore Road on Thursday.

The police said Krishna and his wife Prabhavathi were returning home after attending a wedding in Rajajinagar. Around 9.30 p.m., Krishna stopped the car at a traffic signal near Pantharapalya.

Two men, who came on a motorcycle, snatched the chains from Prabhavathi and sped away. Prabhavathi was sitting next to her husband who was at the wheel. The Byatarayanapura police have registered a case.

In another incident, a motorcycle rider snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 50,000 from Padmalatha in Yeshwanthpur police station limits on Friday.

The incident took place around 6.30 a.m. at Mathikere, the police said. The Yeshwanthpur police have registered a case.

Robbed

Two men robbed a business process outsourcing (BPO) company executive of Rs. 3,500, a gold chain and a mobile phone in Madivala police station limits in the early hours of Friday.

The police said that around 4 a.m. two men, who came in a car, offered lift to Vijay Pai who was waiting for a bus at Bommasandra on Hosur Road. After travelling some distance, they beat him up and robbed him of the cash and valuables.

When Vijay told them that he had to urgently go to Shimoga as his mother was ill, the robbers returned a Rs. 500 note and his wallet and pushed him out of the vehicle on 14th Main, HSR Layout. An injured Vijay went to the HSR Layout police station where a constable took him to a hospital. The Madivala police have registered a case.

Murdered

Following a property dispute, Shiva Kumar (48) was hacked to death allegedly by his two younger brothers in Kadugondanahalli police station limits on Thursday night.

The police said Shiva Kumar and his brothers Narayana and Arjun went to the Kadugondanahalli police station on Thursday night and requested the police to settle the property dispute.

A sub-inspector reportedly refused to intervene stating that it was a civil matter. After returning to their house in Venkatapura, Narayana and Arjun allegedly attacked Shiva Kumar with sharp weapons. The Kadugondanahalli police have registered a case.

Meanwhile, some residents of the area on Friday staged a demonstration near the police station stating that Shiva Kumar would not have died had the sub-inspector settled the dispute.

Woman dies

Soumya (26) died when she fell off from a motorcycle her husband Sridhar was driving in Hebbal police station limits on Friday. According to the police, Soumya suffered head injuries and was admitted to NIMHANS, where she succumbed to injuries. The couple were residents of Vinayakanagar in Hebbal.

However, Soumya's brother Shivakumar has complained to the police that his sister was a victim of dowry harassment.
