Man whisked away in car, murdered

BANGALORE: An armed gang on Friday night kidnapped a man with criminal antecedents and murdered him on Hosur Road in Madivala police station limits.

The police gave his name as Sreenivasa alias Kulla Seena (28), a resident of Ambedkar Colony in Hongasandra on Hosur Road. Sreenivasa, an accused in a murder case, was recently released from jail.

After his release, he had taken to robbery and extortion in the area and this had angered a rival gang. On Friday night, eight men whisked him away in a multi-utility vehicle from a bar near his house and attacked him with clubs and hockey sticks. His body was found in the multi-utility vehicle parked near Roopena Agrahara.

The Madivala police named the suspects as Ambarish, Murugesh, Suri and Kutti among others.

Suicide

Kavitha (24), mother of an eight-month-old baby, committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Dodda Begur on Hosur Road on Friday night. The police said Kavitha was dejected as her alcoholic husband used to torture her to give him money for liquor.

Attacked

Following rivalry between them, four men attacked autorickshaw driver Mohammed Muneer with sharp weapons near Indira Memorial School in Devarajeevanahalli police station limits on Friday night. A seriously injured Muneer has been hospitalised. The police are on the lookout for the attackers Tabreez, Ahmed and their accomplices. In another incident reported from Lingarajapuram on Friday night, Sudhakar, a carpenter, allegedly stabbed his relative Subramani in the abdomen with a knife after he refused to pay him for a drink. An injured Subramani, also a carpenter, has been admitted in a hospital. The Banaswadi police have arrested Sudhakar.

Sandalwood seized

The Shankarapuram police on Friday night intercepted a car in which sandalwood was being smuggled and seized sandalwood logs worth Rs. 1.5 lakh.
