Classrooms getting ready in Anthiyur school

ERODE: With NABARD funds, 20 classrooms with laboratories are under construction at a cost of Rs. 86 lakh in the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Anthiyur and the construction work would be completed soon, said the Erode District Collector T. Udhaychandran on Saturday when he was inspecting the developmental works in Anthiyur area.

Later, the collector told presspersons that developments were being made in the Thavittupalayam-Appakudal road at a cost of Rs. 25.69 lakh with NABARD funds. Similarly, the Athani-Thottakudiyampalayam road was being developed with MLA constituency fund of Rs. 6.50 lakh.

He said under the sugarcane cess fund scheme, the Thottakudiyampalayam- Thammanaickkanure road was being developed at a cost of Rs. 45 lakh.

The collector said under the Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, various works were being undertaken in 69 panchayats this year.

Basic needs of the villagers would be attended to under the scheme.

He appealed to farmers to involve themselves in micro-level irrigation by introducing drip system of irrigation for their lands.

Villagers should raise amla and banana for export, for it would fetch them good revenue.

Youths should go in for industrial training, start industries of their own and provide employment to needy people.
