Budhia to go on a 11-day walkathon

Bhubaneswar: Marathon kid Budhia Singh plans to embark on a walkathon now — from here to Kolkata, a distance of 500 km in 11 days. He will begin his trek on June 6.

Budhia's mentor Biranchi Das told PTI that he hit upon the idea of the walk as the Orissa Government filed a petition in the High Court after the boy's run from Puri to Bhubaneswar in May last kicked up a row.

Mr. Das said Budhia would be allowed to walk only during early morning and evening to avoid the heat.

An ambulance and a team of doctors, a water tanker and a mobile toilet would follow the child, sources in the Budhia Singh Trust, organising the walk, said. — PTI
