Sasikiran shares third spot

NEW DELHI: K. Sasikiran drew with Romanian Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu in 27 moves in the fifth round of the Mtel Masters chess tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Monday.

Playing black, Sasikiran proved equal to his higher rated rival in just 27 moves of Reti Opening to share the third spot with 2.5 points.

The results (fifth round): Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu (Rom, 2.5) drew with K. Sasikiran (2.5); Veselin Topalov (Bul, 2) drew with Gata Kamsky (USA, 1.5); Michael Adams (Eng, 3) drew with Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Aze, 3.5).
