BANGALORE: Students and staff of Bangalore Institute of Technology in Visveswarapuram here faced anxious moments on Thursday following an anonymous call that a bomb had been planted at the college. The police said that around 9 a.m. someone telephoned the administrative section of the college. When the call was not attended, it got diverted to the Mathematics Department. When a professor there received the call, the caller informed her of a bomb being planted in the college.
Police called
The college authorities immediately called the police, and the Bomb Detection Squad, along with sniffer dogs, searched the college premises. No explosives were found. Following the hoax call, the students rushed out of the classrooms and laboratories, and classes were suspended for nearly three hours. The Central police have registered a case.
