Rally against plan to set up abattoir

BANGALORE: Hundreds of volunteers took a pledge to form a Cow Progeny Protection Force in order to prevent cow slaughter, at the culmination of a rally organised by the Anekal Taluk Nagarika Hitharakshana Samiti to protest the proposed abattoir at Iggalur in the taluk on Saturday.

Thousands of people who participated in the rally on Hosur Road against the setting up of the abattoir by the BBMP converged for a public meeting at Chandapura. Various political parties and organisations also joined hands to oppose the abattoir.

Environmentalist A.N. Yellappa Reddy, Anekal MLA A. Narayanaswamy, Renuka Shivacharya Swamiji of Rajapur Samsthan Math and leaders of various animal welfare organisations attended the rally and addressed the meeting.
