BANGALORE: The State Government has issued a notification on May 16 regarding revision of pay scales for its employees. The Government has released a handbook comprising details on the extent of increase for different slabs of salaries. The revised pay scales will come into retrospective effect from July 1, 2005, according to the handbook titled "The Karnataka Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules 2007 and Related Orders", brought out by the Finance Department. The increase in pay, allowances and pension will be payable in cash only with effect from April 1, 2007. The arrears of pay, allowances and pension for the period between April 1, 2006 and March 31, 2007 will be disbursed in the financial year 2008-09. The Dearness Allowance (DA) payable to government employees will be regulated with reference to the DA formula evolved by the Union Government. The DA will be paid twice a year from January 1 and from July 1. The DA payable in the revised pay scales with effect from April 1, 2006, will be calculated with a multiplication factor of 0.875 for every 1 per cent DA sanctioned by the Centre.
Pensioners
In case of those employees, who have ceased to be in service after July 1, 2005 but before April 1, 2006, due to retirement or death while in service, the pay which has been fixed notionally will be taken into account for calculation of pension/family pension. The monetary benefit for such employees will be payable with effect from April 1, 2006. But the arrears will be paid in 2008-09.
HRA
The House Rent Allowance (HRA) for those employees working in the jurisdiction of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will be payable at the rate of 15 per cent of the basic pay as against the existing rate of 13 per cent with effect from April 1, 2006.
