City schools record 98.27 per cent pass in CBSE Class XII results

Bangalore: The atmosphere was tense as thousands of students eagerly awaited their CBSE Class XII results on Wednesday morning. But it was good news for almost everyone, as most of the city schools have come out with flying colours.

The pass percentage in Bangalore region this year is 98.27 with 2,096 students passing out of the 2,133 who appeared for the examination, said Lakshmi Chari, Assistant Commissioner of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan. This is an improvement of 1.54 per cent from last year.

Fifteen out of 34 schools in the region have got 100 per cent results and 17 other schools have got results above 90 per cent, she said. ..

Within Bangalore city, Hebbal Kendriya Vidyalaya, NAL Kendriya Vidyalaya and Railway Wheel Factory Kendriya Vidyalaya have got 100 per cent results. The pass percentage in various streams is as follows: Science (98.08), Commerce (99.71) and Humanities (95.59), said Ms. Chari.

There was jubilation in most Kendriya Vidyalaya campuses in the city because students and teachers were overjoyed with the results. K.V. MEG & Centre recorded 99 per cent pass as against the 96.4 per cent recorded in the previous year. P.S. Sajin, this year's topper of the school, has secured 91 per cent overall.

Principal P.V. Sai Ranga Rao said: "The city schools have improved this year. We are extremely pleased."

Army Public School, yet again, has secured cent per cent results. Gautam topped the Science stream with 89 per cent, while Pushpa topped the Commerce stream with 91 per cent. Almost 75 per cent of students have secured distinctions. Manjula Raman, Principal, said: "The results are not always predictable as far as gender competence is concerned although the boys generally top the Science stream while the girls, the Commerce stream."

All the National Public Schools have fared well in this year's examinations. The toppers of N.P.S (H.A.L) are Kavery Carumbaiah who has scored 96.4 per cent (Commerce) and Shivaranji who scored 96 per cent in the Science stream.
