BANGALORE: One of four men who were allegedly stealing petrol from the Indian Oil Corporation terminal at Devanagondi was injured in his eye when a security man opened fire at them on Friday night. The Anugondanahalli police gave his name as Yellappa. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. when security personnel spotted the miscreants inside the terminal complex. Three of the associates of Yellappa, who admitted him to a private hospital, are at large. SI Vishwanath said the accused used to regularly siphon off petrol into plastic cans. Superintendent of Police (Bangalore Rural) Srinivas told The Hindu that the police had asked the IOC to deal strictly with intruders following reports of fuel theft. The security warned the intruders to leave, but they chose to disregard the warning, forcing the security man to first fire in the air and then at the miscreants.
