Girl `killed' by mother

Sangareddy: A 14-year-old mentally challenged and speech impaired girl Shobha was allegedly killed by her mother in Bapaneyamotukula tanda of Ramayampet mandal on Wednesday after her wedding was cancelled. New train halt

HYDERABAD: The SCR is opening a new halt between Dupadu and Kurnool stations on Secunderabad-Dhone section of Hyderabad division with effect from June 2. Six passenger trains running in the section will stop at the Kotla station. - Special Correspondent

Medical tests

HYDERABAD: Candidates from Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Kadapa and Guntur districts who have qualified for medical tests for recruitment of CRPF constables have been asked to report at CRPF Group Centre, Jai Jawahar Nagar, near Hakimpet, Ranga Reddy district, Secunderabad (tel 27981629). Tourist bus driver

killed in accident

KADAPA: A tourist bus driver Avula Satyanarayana (40) was killed and three others sustained injuries when the bus hit a parked lorry near Ramireddikunta in Porumamilla mandal in the early hours of Wednesday.

The bus was carrying pilgrims from Chinna Dornala in Prakasam district. Bus cleaner Nageswara Rao was driving the bus at the time of accident, when the driver was asleep. - Staff Reporter

injured in accident

KADAPA: Twenty-five Telugu Desam Party activists, who were returning to Pullampet mandal after attending Mahanadu at Tirupati, were injured when a lorry in which they were travelling overturned near Settigunta in Railway Kodur mandal on Tuesday night.

The injured activists were treated at Railway Kodur Government Hospital. - Staff Reporter

Three electrocuted

KURNOOL: Three of a family were electrocuted at Kukatikonda in Devanakonda mandal of Kurnool district on Tuesday night. According to reports, Chandra, 17, tried to attend to a low voltage problem in the house when he was electrocuted. His mother Veeramma and sister Rajamma who went to his rescue also died.-Special Correspondent

Two killed in accident

KURNOOL: Two persons were killed when a Tata Sumo and a motorbike collided near Pudicharla between Kurnool and Orvakal on Wednesday. Chaitanya Kumar (22) and Nadeem (22) who were riding the bike died. Another person, Anwar was hospitalised. - Special Correspondent

Excavator burnt

KURNOOL: Unidentified persons burnt an excavator at Manchalakatta near Gadivemula in Kurnool district in the early hours of Wednesday. - Special Correspondent
