HYDERABAD: Congress MLC Mohd. Jani has urged the Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Commission to include Muslim artisans in the BC list based on their profession. He submitted a memorandum to its Chairman D. Subrahmanyam here on Friday. He said quota should be earmarked for children of Muslim artisans in higher education. - Special Correspondent

The anti-corruption branch of CBI, Hyderabad, on Friday arrested S. Vijay Kumar Lal, Income-Tax Officer, Ward 1, Warangal range, for accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000 from a complainant for avoiding scrutiny of I-T returns filed by his firm and also for favouring it with regard to levy of penalty. - Special Correspondent

Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy has assured grant of Bi.P.C. and M.P.C. groups in Urdu medium in Government girls junior college here. He sent a fax to the Secretary of Intermediate Education recommending it. Urdu students of 25 schools have no option but to join arts group, due to lack of science groups in Urdu media, Urdu Teachers Association general secretary Mohd. Lorry driver killed
KADAPA:
Driver of a salt-laden lorry was crushed between the lorry and a tractor near Pathur village in Khajipet mandal on Friday. When another driver Subramanyam could not start the lorry, he requested a tractor driver to push it from behind. The victim Raman was caught between the two vehicles. Staff Reporter
2 killed in accidents
Madanapalle:
Rahamthulla, 35, was killed when his vehicle was hit by an RTC bus coming from B. Kothakota at Neerugattivaripalle near Madanapalle on Wednesday. In another accident, one J. Narayanappa, 45, native of V'voddur of Palamaner mandal, was run over by a tractor. Correspondent
