New president for students' body

NEW DELHI: Simmy Joseph has been elected president of the National Students' Union of India -- Jawaharlal Nehru University State unit. Simmy, who is pursuing his research studies in linguistics, has served NSUI in different capacities and contested the post of joint secretary in JNUSU polls. Elections to the NSUI-JNU State unit were held late on Friday night and the results were declared on Saturday.

Last date for admission extended

NEW DELHI: The last date for admission to the certificate programme in Newborn and Infant Care and Certificate Programme in Maternal and Child Health Care offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University has been extended up to June 30.

The detailed student handbook and prospectus-cum-admission form can be obtained from the IGNOU regional centres the State capitals or Registrar, SR& ED, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068, on payment of Rs. 50 in cash or through post by sending an IPO/demand draft of Rs. 100 in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi.

Application forms can also be downloaded from www.ignou.ac.in.

Power supply to be hit

NEW DELHI: Power supply will be affected in Shahbad Mohammad Pur near Palam lines here between 12 noon and 5 p.m. this Sunday on account of charging and energising of the newly laid 11 KV lines and dismantling of the old lines. Power distribution company BSES said the supply would also be affected in Jamia, Sukhdev Vihar, CSIR and adjoining areas between 10-30 a.m. and 1-30 p.m. on Monday owing to maintenance work.
