HYDERABAD: The State Government has expressed a firm resolve to repatriate non-local employees in Hyderabad to their respective zones of nativity by this month-end while implementing GO 610.

The Government's earlier commitment to complete the process by June-end was reaffirmed by the Cabinet sub-committee to oversee implementation of the order at a meeting here on Saturday. The panel reviewed the data relating to employees of 93 out of 97 departments who have to be sent back to their native districts.

The identification of employees in all the 97 departments would be completed within a week and they would be served orders by the end of June. The staff will have to resume their duties at the new places of posting within a week of receiving orders, sub-committee chairman and Higher Education Minister D. Srinivas told reporters.

The meeting was attended by Ministers K. Jana Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Koneru Ranga Rao and D.S. Redya Naik, apart from Mr. Srinivas.

Meanwhile, Home Minister K. Jana Reddy held a separate meeting with Principal Home Secretary P.V. Naidu, Director General of Police M.A. Basith and other top police officials to review the progress of despatching non-local police personnel, particularly from Hyderabad where over 3,000 constables and sub-inspectors were domiciled.

Mr. Reddy later said the repatriation would begin from this month-end, but the entire process may take until December 2008 to complete since the new recruits would have to undergo pre-service training.

The Cabinet would discuss at its next meeting the issue of creating 2,000 supernumerary posts in the districts to absorb the repatriates.

He admitted that there would be problems in the upkeep of law and order if such a large force was sent at a time.
