BANGALORE: A total of 44,686 candidates have been assigned engineering ranks and 7,712 allotted medical ranks by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K), which conducted its Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET) for admission to its member colleges on May 6. Topping the medical rank list was Guruprasad N., who scored a total of 163 in physics, chemistry and biology (PCB). Sagar G.V. was first among the engineering rank-holders with a score of 167 in physics, chemistry and mathematics (PCM). The rank-holders will now compete for the 828 MBBS seats available in 16 medical colleges, 830 BDS seats in 28 dental colleges, 9,135 BE seats in 91 engineering colleges and 90 B.Arch seats in eight architecture colleges attached to COMED-K. Sixty engineering seats are also available in the JSS Academy of Technical Education, Mauritius, which recently joined the Consortium.
Medical toppers
The medical topper, Guruprasad, had secured 97.5 per cent in PCB in the second year pre-university examination and has decided to join Bangalore Medical College. He got the 17th medical rank in CET conducted by the State Government. Other COMED-K medical rank-holders are Pranay Reddy Korpole (160), Archana Kaveri B. (159), Govind Chhinpa (159), Ravendra Singh (158), Ankith N.V. (158), Karan Shetty (158), Venkatesh S. Kaulgud (157), Nakul R. Heroor (156) and Srikant Venkatakrishnan (156). Barring Pranay Reddy Korpole, Govind Chhinpa and Ravendra Singh, all the others are Karnataka students. Archana Kaveri is the only female candidate in the top 10. Engineering toppers
The engineering topper, Sagar, had secured the second rank in the CET. The other COMED-K rank-holders are Venkatesh S. Kaulgud (161), Nakul R. Heroor (161), Vikas R. (160), Suvinay S. (159), Anusha Reddy S. (158), Sudesh Kumar (158), Shvetha N. (157), Shashi Chandra Maan (156) and Ramachandra Pai K. (156). Shashi Chandra Maan is the only non-Karnataka candidate. The complete rank list will be available on the COMED-K website (www.comedk.org) by Monday evening, according to the Consortium's executive secretary, S. Kumar. Among the top 100 engineering rank-holders, 84 are from Karnataka and 16 are from outside the State. Of the engineering rank-holders from outside the State, only 16 figure in the top 100 and 96 in the ranks between 101 and 500. Between ranks 501 and 1,000, there are 159 non-Karnataka candidates. In all, there are 23,534 engineering rank-holders from outside the State. Among the top 100 medical rank-holders, 36 are from Karnataka and 64 from outside the State. Between ranks 101 and 500, 77 per cent (309 candidates) are from outside the State.
Counselling
The first round medical/dental counselling will be conducted from June 21 to 24. For architecture seats, the first round will be on June 25, followed by counselling for engineering seats from June 26 to July 11. The second and final round counselling for medical/dental seats will be on July 13 and 14, followed by the final round for architecture on July 15. For engineering seats, the second and final round counselling will be conducted between July 16 and 22.
