BANGALORE: An autorickshaw driver and his two accomplices robbed a call centre executive of Rs. 1,200 cash, a mobile phone and debit and credit cards in K.R. Puram police station limits on Friday. The police said that around 11 p.m. Chiranjeevi withdrew Rs. 1,200 from Corporation Bank ATM counter at Pai Layout on Old Madras Road. As he came out, an autorickshaw driver and two passengers dragged him into the vehicle. After relieving him of the cash and other articles, they pushed him out of the autorickshaw on Horamavu Ring Road and sped away. The K.R. Puram police have registered a case.
Chains snatched
Motorcycle-borne men snatched three gold chains from two women in quick succession in separate incidents in HAL 2nd and 3rd Stage on Friday. The police said that around 8.30 p.m. two men, who came on a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain from V. Sunitha while she was walking along with her mother at Geetanjali Layout in HAL 3rd Stage. Around 9 p.m. two motorists snatched two gold chains, along with a gold dollar, from Lakshmi Madhav in HAL 2nd Stage. The Indiranagar police have registered a case. The police suspect that the same gang could be involved in both the crimes.
Cash stolen
Thieves made away with Rs. 1.50 lakh kept in the utility box of a scooter parked in front of a bank in Jayanagar police station limits on Saturday. The police said that around 11.30 a.m. Anand withdrew the sum from Syndicate Bank's branch in 8th Block, Jayanagar. After he put the cash bag in the utility box of the scooter, he realised that he had left his helmet in the bank. When he returned with the helmet, he found that the cash bag was missing.
Student ends life
Sheela (19), a first year B.Com student, committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Venkatapura in Madivala police station limits on Friday night. The police said Sheela had taken the extreme step as she had not done well in her second semester examinations.
Man run over
An unidentified man aged around 30 was run over by a train on the tracks, behind Hotel Grand Ashok, on Saturday.
