Six killed in lightning

ONGOLE: Five persons, including three women, were killed when lightning struck the hut in which they were sleeping in at Chundi village in Ponnalur mandal late on Saturday night. Six others who were injured were admitted to the Government hospital at Kandukur. According to the police, they were all working in a brick-making unit located near Pyreddipalem. The victims were identified as Gundabathina Narasimham, 45, his wife Narsamma, 40, Jelli Malakondaiah, 35, and his daughter Kavita, 9, and Gottimukkala Adilakshmma, 25.

Meanwhile in Kurnool, Hampaiah, 35, too was killed by lightning at Alampur crossroads on Sunday. He hailed from Kalvabugga.
