BANGALORE: Young musicians are getting another chance to showcase their talent. Ananya's fifth programme in the series called Sangathi Yuvasangeethotsava will be held for five days from Wednesday. It is also the occasion of Ananya's 10th annual music awards. The programme offers four evening concerts a day from Thursday to Saturday in four locations: Sevasadana, near MLA School, 14th Cross, Malleswaram; BTM Cultural Academy, Sri Ramanamaharshi Academy for the Blind, 3rd Cross, 3rd Phase, J.P. Nagar; Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, 9th Main, Banashankari 2nd Stage; and Sri Tyagaraja Gana Sabha Trust, Sri Vani Vidya Kendra, 2nd Stage, Rajajinagar. The inaugural concert is by vocalist Manasi Prasad, who recently rejected a lucrative job offer abroad to pursue her interest in music. It follows the inauguration at 6 p.m. at Sevasadana on Wednesday. The other programmes at Sevasadana are flute by Rajkamal N. (Thursday), Vocal by Vasavi (Friday) and Hindustan vocal by Mahalakshmi Shenoy (Saturday) all at 6.30 p.m. The following are the programmes scheduled at the BTM Cultural Academy: Vocal by Nishanth Namboodari, Mandolin by Prasanna, Vocal by Shilpa Shashidhar all at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, respectively. At Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, Vocalist Amrutha Venkatesh, Flautist Ashwini Varaghur and Vocalist Prasanna Venkataram will perform at 6 p.m. on the three days, respectively. At Sri Tyagaraja Gana Sabha Trust, Vocalist Vrinda Acharya, Veena artiste Jayashree Mahesh (both 6.30 p.m.) and Vocalist Ravi Kiran G. (6 p.m.) will perform on the three days, respectively. The event will conclude with the instrumental ensemble by artistes of Sangathi directed by L.V. Mukund and A.S.N. Swamy, also at Sevasadana on Sunday at 10 a.m. The valedictory function will feature presentation of awards. The Ananya Puraskara, given to senior musicians every year, goes to Mridangam maestro and founder of Karnataka College of Percussions T.A.S. Mani. The Shastra Kaustubha award goes to music teacher and performer T.N. Padma of Mysore and the Ananya Yuvapurasakara awards go to Mukund (Flute), B.U. Ganeshprasad (Violin) and G. Guruprasanna (Khanjira). Mukund is a student of N. Ramani and a software engineer by profession. Ganesh Prasad has been trained by violin maestro L. Subramanyam. Guruprasanna began learning Mridangam at the age of six.
