CHENNAI: The Confederation of Tamil Nadu Malayalee Associations has opposed the proposed 5-star hotel project being launched by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation in Chennai. Confederation president M. Nanda Govind, in a statement here on Monday, said various Malayalee associations in the State had been demanding a multi-facility cultural centre at a vacant plot of the land owned by the Kerala Government on Greams Road here.
Minster's assurance
The Kerala tourism Minister had assured the federation's delegation in April that the Government did not intend to undertake a hotel project. The federation believed that a cultural centre comprising facilities for accommodation for Malayalees visiting Chennai for various purposes such as medical treatment, traders, students, transit passengers and information centres on Kerala tourism would be useful to people of the State.
