CHENNAI : The Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) CID police seized 2 kg of ganja oil and arrested two persons in this connection on Monday. Police said following a tip-off that some persons had procured ganja oil from Andhra Pradesh and were staying in a lodge in Chepauk, a special team led by DSP Manoharan arrested them. A search led to recovery of two kilos of ganja oil packed in two plastic sachets. The names of the arrested were given as Selvam alias "Thavakkalai" Selvam (45) of Varusanaadu Theni district and Mayapandi (30) of Keeripatti Madurai district. Some warrants pending against Selvam from Theni and Coimbatore police stations too were executed with the arrest, an officer in the team said. The two accused had allegedly procured the narcotic from Anakapatti village in Andhra Pradesh and arrived here in a bus early on Monday. The police said the accused had planned to sell the ganja oil in Pondicherry and Kodaikanal. This is the first time ganja oil, which is valued at Rs. 2 lakh per kg, has been seized in the city.
