former MP
According to the complainant, Shambhu Singh, Mr. Mohan and his security guard entered his room in which he and his son were staying. Mr. Mohan allegedly threatened him and also roughed up his son. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case and are investigating.
Arrested for cheating
Mr. Singh contacted Delhi Police Commissioner K.K. Paul on Monday morning alleging that a man posing as a senior law officer in the Union Law Ministry was demanding money from him to get a case of alleged disproportionate assets settled. Acting on the complaint, a team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Yadav detained the man when he came to meet Mr. Singh. He was identified as Varun Kumar Verma, a resident of Lajpat Nagar. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that he was a private tutor. He recently came across newspaper reports about the case of alleged disproportionate assets against Mr. Mulayam Singh and allegedly planned to extract money from Mr. Singh on the pretext of getting the matter settled. He has been charged with cheating.
