Notice ordered

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ordered the issue of notices to the respondents on a petition by Nayaz Ahmed, administrative member of the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT), seeking extension of service till the age of 65.

In his petition, Mr. Ahmed said he is entitled to continue in office till he reaches 65 years or he puts in a specified years of service. He said he is slated to retire on June 12.

Justice N.K. Patil adjourned further hearing on the petition.

PIL

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B.S. Patil, on Tuesday ordered issue of notices to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition challenging the decision of the palike to temporarily relocate some slum dwellers in a park at Austin Town.

The Bench adjourned further hearing on the petition.
