ANANTAPUR: District Collector N. Sridhar, who assumed office here on Wednesday, stated that his priorities were to work for uplift of the poor and welfare of the farmers. He would visit all 63 mandals during the next three weeks to learn problems and issues concerning people by meeting them along with the local elected representatives and non-governmental organisations. He had called on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Ministers from the district J.C. Diwakar Reddy and N. Raghuveera Reddy in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Micro irrigation
Distribution of subsidised seed groundnut, disbursement of input subsidy and crop insurance benefit against the crop loss suffered in 2006 kharif and allied agricultural activities like micro irrigation, horticulture, dairy farming would be the immediate priorities, Mr. Sridhar stated. Efficient implementation of NREGS, empowerment of women with SHG activities and Indiramma schemes would also be high on his agenda. He would ensure transparency in decision-making and accountability in implementation of schemes. He was for the stay of officers like Tehsildars, MPDOs and PHC doctors in their headquarters as per the standing orders.
