Hostel accommodation for backward class students

Last date for submission of completed forms is July 31

CHENNAI : Application forms for students belonging to Backward and Most Backward Classes seeking accommodation are available at the respective hostels, a press note issued by Chennai collector R. Jaya said on Wednesday.

For BC category students: College Boys' hostel, Hostel Road, First Main Road, Tirunagar, Vadapalani; College Boys' hostel, Lady Wellington School premises, Triplicane; School Boys' Hostel, 4, West Tank Bund Street, Tiruvanmiyur; College Boys' Hostel, 10, Kailasapuram, 3rd Street, Mylapore; College Boys' Hostel, Saidapet (near Todhunter Nagar Housing Board flats) and Chennai Government College Girls' Hostel, Lady Wellington School premises, Triplicane.

For MBC students: College Boys' Hostel, Saidapet; and Students of Vocational Education, 17, New Barracks Road, Otteri.

Students in classes four to 12, undergraduates, postgraduates, polytechnic students are eligible for accommodation in these hostels. Students staying in the hostels will receive food and accommodation free of cost. ' Students of class ten would be given two sets of school uniforms and students of classes and ten and twelve will receive special guides free of cost.

Only students whose parents' annual income is below Rs.50,000 will be eligible for the accommodation.

`Five km rule'

Students' homes should be at least five km away from the hostels. This rule, however, is applicable only for boys.

Application forms may be obtained at hostels or at the Collectorate free of cost. Last date for submission of completed forms is July 31, said the release.
