Delhi, neighbourhood face hotter days

NEW DELHI: Weathermen at the India Meteorological Department have warned that Delhi and its neighbourhood could get hotter in the coming days, with the temperatures hovering between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius over the next five days.

Speaking to The Hindu , the weathermen said that an analysis of the current meteorological conditions suggested that the strong north-westerly surface winds that had been sweeping over the plains of northwest India were likely to continue for the next three days.

The winds may become weaker, but the temperatures could remain high at least for the next two days.

Numerical weather prediction models have suggested that monsoon flow is gradually getting strengthened over both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, with indications of fairly widespread rainfall activity along the west coast and increase in rainfall over the north-eastern States in the coming days.

Some areas in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep and the northeast could experience heavy rainfall over the next five days.
