Probe reveals supply of poor quality carts

Bidar: A preliminary inquiry has revealed that the Government has distributed poo quality bullock carts to farmers under its "Ettu-Bandi" scheme.

A team of officials led by Additional Director of Agriculture B. Raju has confirmed this after samples were inspected in Bidar and surrounding areas on Friday.

In a release, he said some carts were found to be of low quality. The supplier has agreed to rectify the mistakes in the carts. A detailed report will be submitted to the Government soon, he said.

According to him, the Government plans to give carts to 417 farmers at 50 per cent subsidy.

The expenditure for the scheme is Rs. 35.44 lakh. As many as 175 carts will be distributed in the first stage. Half the money has been given to suppliers. The other half will be given after distribution.
