MYSORE: The unsolved drinking water problems in K.G. Koppal and Jayanagar localities here led to the transfer of two engineers of Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) on Friday.

On day three of visit to marketplaces and localities as part of "Adhikarigala Nadige Mane Mane Kadege" campaign, Minister in charge of Mysore district G.T. Deve Gowda asked Mysore City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner K.N. Chandrashekar to transfer the engineers to some other areas as they could not solve water problems in the areas despite knowing the situation.

The Minister, who went on a padayatra in the localities with the local elected representatives and officials of the MCC, collected grievances from the residents at Chamundeshwari Temple in K.G. Koppal.

The residents complained of erratic water supply and the inaccessibility of valvemen and engineers during emergencies.

The VVWW Assistant Engineers Balakrishna and Vijayaprasad, who were summoned to the spot following complaints from the residents, told the Minister that it was difficult to ensure proper supply in these areas because of certain difficulties. This irked the Minister, who asked the Commissioner to transfer the engineers to other areas.

The Commissioner agreed to transfer the engineers and solve water problem in the areas at the earliest. But the Minister sought an action-taken report (ATR) from the Commissioner in a couple of days.

Deputy Commissioner S. Selva Kumar and MLA M.K. Somashekar were among those who accompanied the Minister during the padayatra.
