India begins campaign in style

New Delhi: India started its Sudirman Cup in fine fashion defeating Finland 4-1 in its first group rubber at Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday.

India dominated the Division 3-Group B encounter with all players, except Anup Sridhar, winning their matches.

Diju & Aparna Balan bt Tuomas Nuorteva & Maria Vaisanen 21-15, 21-9; Saina Nehwal bt Anu Nieminen 21-13, 21-13; Anup Sridhar lost to Ville Lang 11-21, 21-15, 16-21; Thomas Sanave & Rupesh Kumar bt Mikko Vikman & Nuorteva 21-7, 21-15; Saina & Aparna bt Elina & Maria Vaisanen 21-11, 21-17). — PTI
