MUMBAI: The rupee improved further on Friday to close at 40.85/86 against the U.S. currency on late dollar selling amid sustained capital outflows. In volatile trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit opened steady at 40.90/92 from Thursday's close of 40.92/93. It touched the 41-level to a quote at low of 41.02 on the back of fairly good import coverings and long dollar positions in forward market.
