Thumping win for AP Police

HYDERABAD: Centre-forward Suri Babu, who scored six goals including a hat-trick, helped Andhra Pradesh Police trounce Secunderabad Sporting 13-0 in the A-1 division hockey league championship at the Begumpet Police Stadium here on Sunday.

Winger Deepak Raj gave Suri Babu admirable support with some speedy runs which saw him score three goals. N. Prasad, Mujeeb, Sanjeev Kumar and Rafiuddin struck once each to complete the tally.

In another match, Accountant General (AP) scored a 2-0 win over AC Guards Welfare Association. Centre-forward Habeeb Mohd struck in the 16th minute of first-half and in the second session, left-in Vijay Kumar scored the second goal in the 41st minute of a penalty corner conversion.

A-division league from June 24

The Hyderabad Cricket Association will organise the A-division league matches from June 24 and the matches in the B, C and D-divisions will commence from July 1 at different venues in the twin cities.

Concerned teams can collect the draw copies from the HCA office at the Gymkhana in the evening hours from June 22 (for A-division league) and June 25 (for lower division league).
