11 killed in road accidents in State

HYDERABAD:

Road accidents claimed 11 lives and injured eight persons, one seriously, in the State on Sunday.

A tractor with a trailer carrying 11 labourers to a construction site overturned leaving four persons dead at Srimanthanguda village, 70 km from here, in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district. Seven others were injured. While the seriously injured Alivelu, 18, was rushed to Osmania General Hospital here, others were admitted to a private hospital at Ibrahimpatnam.

All the labourers hailing from Manthengourelli village of Yacharam mandal were going to work at a culvert under construction when the accident occurred in the morning.

The victims were identified as V. Yadaiah, 18, R. Pushpalata, 20, P. Manjula, 16, and G. Ramaswamy, 30.

Two unidentified persons, both in their mid 40s, were killed when the scooter they were travelling on was hit by a speeding DCM van at Keesara on the fringes of the city.

Five more, including three of a family, were killed in two road accidents at Anakapalle of Visakhapatnam district.

J. Srinivas, 30, his wife Sivakumari, 29, daughter Lavanya, 9, and son Ravikiran, 7, were going from Visakhapatnam to a temple in Anakapalle on a motorcycle when a speeding lorry hit them at Chitrapalli around noon.

In another accident, the driver of a trailer, Venkateswara Rao, 48, of Vijayawada was crushed to death when he was hit by a tipper truck near the RTO office at Anakapalle. K. Eshwar Rao, 45, cleaner of the heavy vehcile too died in the accident.
