CHENNAI: A voluntary organisation distributed aid to 500 economically weak school students at a function here on Sunday. The aid given by Shree Jain Sangh to each of the student included 10 notebooks, pencils and erasers and a set of uniform. Geometry boxes were also distributed to students in classes IX to XII. Karuna International president Dulichandji Jain explained how Jainism emphasised the need for service to the society. Shree Jain Sangh distributed aid to the students for the sixth year consecutively under the book bank project. Started in 1981, it also runs a free medical centre and maintains a water booth in Saidapet. Councillors M. Mahesh Kumar and S. Latha Selvakumar participated.
