More ATMs for eight railway stations

TIRUCHI: The Canara Bank will establish Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in eight railway stations coming under the jurisdiction of the Tiruchi Railway Division.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Tiruchi Railway Division and the Canara Bank authorities in this connection here on Wednesday.

The bank’s Circle Office, here, will set up the ATMs at Tiruchi Fort, Tiruchi Town, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Adhiramapattinam, Aduthurai, Neyveli and Panruti railway stations. The bank has paid a sum of Rs.6.60 lakh as licence fee to the Railway authorities towards establishment of ATMs.

The eight ATMs would become functional before the end of the current financial year, the bank’s Deputy General Manager, S. Nagarajan said.

The bank has also planned to set up ATMs at Tiruchi Junction, Puducherry, Tiruvannamalai and Salem Town railway stations.

Mr. Nagarajan said that the facility at the Tiruchi Junction would become operational in a month’s time.

The Divisional Railway Manager, R.C. Jat, said that many banks had already established their ATMs in different railway stations in the division.
