Assembly session likely from July 16

Hyderabad: The Governor is likely to summon a brief session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from July 16.

According to sources in the AP Legislature, the monsoon session, although an annual feature, is being convened this time to coincide with the Presidential election on July 19 as MLAs, among others, constitute the electoral college. The budget session of the House concluded on March 30.

“We had informal discussions about the Presidential elections and thought that July 16 should be right date for commencement of the monsoon session,” the sources said on Wednesday.
