Rotary supports diabetes hospital

BANGALORE: The Rotary Club of Bangalore J.P. Nagar will support Samatvam Asha Diabetes Centre in J.P. Nagar by providing equipment under the matching grant project of Rotary International in association with Rotary Minneapolis University, the U.S.

The hospital to be known as Rotary Diabetes Diagnostics Centre will provide free and subsidised medical consultation, diagnostic service and medicines to the poor and the needy through available resources. The cost of the project is $ 26,000, according to A.B. Shivasubramanyam, president of the club.

Inauguration

Mr. Shivasubramanyam told presspersons here on Wednesday that the hospital, located at Jnana Sanjeevini, 2, 1st A Cross, Marenahalli, J.P. Nagar II Phase, would be inaugurated by Minister for Medical Education V.S. Acharya on June 24 at 11.30 a.m.

‘Stop Diabetes – 2007’

On the occasion of the inauguration of the new facility, the hospital will organise a free camp “Stop Diabetes – 2007.” The camp, which will be an annual event, will be held from June 24 to July 1 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on its premises.

Apart from people suffering from diabetes, those who do not have diabetes can also undergo the screening tests.

The camp, to be attended by specialists in various segments, is open for all residents of Bangalore and surrounding areas, the club said.

Exhibition

There will also be an exhibition on diabetes healthcare products, books and health education material.
