BANGALORE: The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board on Wednesday announced results for the supplementary examinations held from May 28. A release by the board said that out of 1.9 lakh students who had appeared for the examinations, 81,810 students passed, bringing the pass percentage to 42.83. Girls fared better than boys with the former recording a pass percentage of 45.21 as opposed to 41.25 notched up by boys. The release said 49.06 per cent of girls from rural areas, who appeared for the examinations, passed while 41.95 was the pass percentage for girls from urban areas. Boys who appeared for the examination from rural areas notched up a pass percentage of 44.89 while only 37.62 per cent of the boys from urban areas passed. Students from government aided schools scored better than those in government and unaided schools. About 46.5 per cent of girls and about 43.7 per cent of boys from government aided schools passed. The pass percentage for girls and boys from government schools stood at 43.73 and 39.77 respectively and that for unaided schools stood at 42.85 and 39.6.
