Changing with the times

An air-conditioned toddy bar was opened at Vengalipara by the Kozhikode Taluk Kallu Vyavasaya Thozhilali Sangham. There are five employees and eight toddy tapers in the bar, which is on the first floor of a building. An ordinary toddy shop functions on the ground floor where a litre of toddy costs Rs.37. But at the bar, cool toddy is served at Rs.60 a litre. Eatables from crab roast to rabbit roast figure in the menu. The Sangham plans to open more such bars .
