Heavy rainfall warning

BANGALORE: A “heavy rainfall warning” has been issued for the State, Director, Meteorological Centre, G.S. Vijayaraghavan said here on Saturday.

The severe rainfall in north interior Karnataka is a direct result of the depression over the Bay of Bengal while the heavy rain in coastal Karnataka was because of the onset of south-west monsoon, he said. The forecast for the State is heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, with isolated pockets of “very heavy rainfall”. The depression will weaken in three days.
