Andhra Pradesh
Narrawada in Nellore district is a renowned centre of pilgrimage with the rush of devotees who throng to worship goddess Vengamamba Devi. But, unfortunately, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is not plying buses directly to the temple. Incidentally the RTC is not even running ‘palle velugu’ buses. People’s representatives and RTC officials are requested to think of inconvenience to the devotees who visit the temple in large numbers daily. I request the RTC authorities to act immediately. Naga Raja Rao. K Kavali Avoid cellphone talk while driving
A motorcyclist lost his life when he was crushed under a lorry in a road accident on June 16 in Tirupati. Apparently, he was conversing on his mobile while he was driving and lost control over the vehicle. Of late, it has become a common sight on busy roads that drivers of a variety of vehicles talking on the cellphone while driving, totally ignoring the appeals of the traffic police. At times, the traffic wardens too remain silent spectators to this punishable offence. I sincerely appeal to the authorities concerned to take cognisance of the gravity of the situation and initiate stern action against the violators. I. Subash Samuel Ulavapadu, Prakasam Laudable effort by seva trust
The onset of Chaitanya Seva Trust, a non-governmental organisation set up with several retired judges of the High Court at Burgula village in Mahbubnagar district, and method of selecting children under 10 years is laudable. The trust’s motif to light up at least a few families, which are in distress, deserves praise. Let us hope that the efforts of the administration in choosing the children for rehabilitation scheme and providing them free education along with the boarding and lodging facilities till they complete 10th class pave the way for setting up of more trusts.
