Machilipatnam: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will lay foundation stone for the construction of Bandar Port in August this year, according to Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, Minister for Ports and Infrastructure said on Wednesday. Mr. Rao, along with Animal Husbandry Minister M Buddha Prasad visited shipping harbor at Gilakaladindi and interacted with owners of fishing boats and fishermen. He said that the port would provide livelihood to thousands of families in the district and it would also help the fast growth of Machilipatnam. Mr. Buddha Prasad said the State Government announced a special package of Rs. 75 crores for the welfare of fishermen. MLA Perni Venkataramayya (Nani), Chairman of Zilla Parishad K. Nageswara Rao and others were present.
