VILLUPURAM: The kumbabishekam of the Periyanna Aiyyanar Temple at Ka. Kuppam here was performed on Thursday amid tight security, due to a bomb threat. The police said when the preparations was going on, the organising committee and the police received anonymous letters that if the event was not cancelled, bombs would explode in the temple. The police searched the entire premises, but could not find any explosive material. Armed police kept a tight vigil till the function was over. Villupuram Municipal Chairman Janakaraj, Vice-Chairman Parthiban, Deputy Commissioner (HR & CE) Subramanian and Executive Officer Kumaran participated. — Special Correspondent
