SFI members arrested

KANCHEEPURAM: Members of the Students Federation of India were arrested on Thursday after they barged into the office of the District Educational Officer at Chengalpattu and raised slogans, condemning collection of donations in schools and also demanding appointment of parents as members of Parent-Teacher Associations.

According to police, the SFI had got permission to stage a demonstration near the Chengalpattu Medical College.

However, a group barged into the DEO office and raised slogans.

Subsequently, the DEO called the police. A total of 47 persons including three girls were arrested.
